Our next Will Day will be August 3rd. Sign-up information for that date will be shared in June.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Please note: These appointments fill up quickly. Last time, there were several cancellations—if you sign up, please do your best to keep your appointment.
Q & A (from the TORCH):
Q: Is this for retirees as well?
A: No, this plan is only for active members. It is offered through NYSUT Member Benefits.
Q: I already have a will but need to update it. What should I do?
A: The process is the same as creating a new will. Complete the paperwork as best you can, consult with an attorney (during Will Day or via phone), and once your updated documents are ready, follow signing and notarization instructions. The updated will replaces the old one.
Q: I missed the June sign-up. Will there be another opportunity?
A: Yes, another Will Day is being planned for August. In the meantime, you can begin your paperwork.
Q: Where can I find the paperwork?
A: See the link above for the NYSUT Access Estate Planning Package.
Q: Who should I contact with questions about the will or the process?
A: You can contact the lawyers’ office at 1-800-832-5182.
Q: How do I use the Legal Service Plan?
A: Call the toll-free number listed on the back of your NYSUT ID card. Provide your ID number and briefly describe your legal matter. You’ll be referred to a staff attorney, and if needed, to a participating attorney in your area.
Thank you,
Matthew Gruber
